How would you feel getting a phone call from heaven? It may be different then you expect, but you can ask Katherine Yellin or even Horace Belfin. Some people in this world try to make others fell bad. Horace Belfin is one of those people who tries to make others feel bad. In this novel they show fear, courage, and hope. Everyone wants everyone to be happy and not be sad about their losses.
"Really? He motioned"
"The end is not the end" "They're blaming Katherine? Amy said" Throughout this book many key events occurred. The event to start it all off, people were receiving phone call from people in their family that have died. Next Sullivan Harding took it upon himself to set up an investigation to figure out who would do such a thing. Finally, Horace Belfin was the many doing this and it was just not right. I believe this is an an amazing book with a great message.
Text-to-text: While reading this book I thought of the book The Red Kayak written by Pricilla Cummings. In this book there is a mystery that no one can solve. This is like the phone call mystery in this book.
Text-to-self: I can relate the mystery to my life because of all of my siblings. There will be a juice box on the floor and everyone will say they didn't do it. This si when my parents have to question everybody just as Sully did. Text-to-world: Everyone is the world lies. This is very bad because when it comes down to the line and you lie it can affect many people not just you. Our world would change if nobody lied because what comes out of our mouths would be different. Problem: Sully thought the Horace was always doing something wrong and causing harm to those who are suffering. Sully went into a further investigation to figure out what was really happening.
Solution: Sully went to see Horace on a Friday and the time that he would usually call those people at this time. Sully wanted to make it clear that he knew Horace's secret. He made sure that people knew. The 2 characters that are the most different are Horace Belfin and Sullivan Harding. This is because Horace caused these calls to make people feel special. Sully doesn't care how people think he wants to know what is happening. The both care about the people who have passed away and want to help the families. Horace has a view of pretending to be them. While Sully believes that everyone lives through it and should figure out how to cope with it.
Hello, my name is Horace Belfin and I am hiding something. I have been been the one calling pretending to be from the dead. I want to make people think that people are still alive in heaven. I have been doing this for a long period of time and I believe that it is helping many people cope with the sadness.
From, Horace Belfin Mitch Albom foreshadowed that someone was going to fake getting the calls to get more attention and he was right. During the book a girl said she was getting calls from her friend that died. She later unveiled that she was faking it and she was not receiving any calls. He said that he knew someone was going to do this and they did so he had it all planned out.
During this book there were many times that my group and I were in suspense. Sully caused us even more suspense because of the story of him going to jail. When he was telling this he said it was and will always be his fault that his wife passed away. He thought he deserved to go to jail, but he did not. He always was hard on himself and whi
le we were reading this we were on the edge of our seats because we wanted for him to think differently. This is what gave us the most suspense during this novel. The purpose that the author wants us to know is simple. The lesson is you can't trust everything you hear. This becomes clear in this novel because these phone calls were fake, but people believed that they were real and that they could actually talk to the deceased. Mitch Albom explains to us that you may listen to those you think you can trust and rely on, but sometimes it is to good to be real. It would make losi g people a lot easier if we could talk to them after they die, but you can't. So, Mitch Albom just shows us what we thought was going to happens does.
